This study provides an analytical overview of major Urdu works written on socialism, focusing particularly on the perspectives of prominent Islamic scholars such as Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani, Syed Abul A‘la Maududi, and Maulana Wahiduddin Khan. These authors generally consider socialism a Western, non-Islamic ideology that conflicts with Islamic economic principles. The assignment examines the philosophical foundations of socialism, its socio-economic implications, and its comparison with Islamic economic teachings as presented in the selected Urdu texts. It highlights how these scholars critique socialism’s concepts of class struggle, state control, and property ownership, and contrast them with Islam’s balanced, ethical, and justice-oriented economic framework. By analyzing these texts, the study explores how socialism has been interpreted, critiqued, and positioned within Urdu literature, and how these interpretations reflect the broader intellectual and ideological trends in the Muslim world.
