This study presents an analytical examination of Allama Tamanna Imadi’s interpretative approach to Qur’anic exegesis, focusing particularly on those views that diverge from mainstream Sunni scholarship and classical exegetical traditions. Allama Imadi frequently dismisses established hadith literature as fabricated, insisting on deriving meanings directly from the Qur’an based on his own interpretive reasoning, which has led to accusations of hadith rejection. His claims such as the descent of early revelations in written form, the Prophet’s (PBUH) acquisition of reading and writing ability in the Cave of Hira, and the presence of a pen and “raq-e-manshoor” during the first revelation are presented without textual, historical, or scholarly precedent. This research critically compares Imadi’s unique positions with those of classical mufassirīn, highlights methodological inconsistencies in his reasoning, and evaluates his arguments in light of accepted hadith, tafsīr, and sīrah sources.
